The Lab and I had fun last saturday. Thanks, Marco Miguel!
A little background... my dad was in Cebu for the week and I met marco the week before during that bar thingy with Rocky. So we were going to watch a movie and go to his friend's party. Now, I wasn't sure about the party so I was decked out in a white polo, jeans and RUBBER SHOES.
--> Sidebar : The week before, when i met marco, i was wearing semi-stilettos, my weapons of mass destruction (for references, read Raine enchanted, it's in the archives) and i had tripped on the stairs in front of marco. I was trying not to repeat that.
So, anyway, it was the graduation party that night of my er, (un)favorite cousin Rizzy at my aunt's house. My brother persuaded me to drop by and show my face instead of waiting at the apartment, and i did. Thank god. I had to contend with fake smiles and false displays of affection which tend to run rife in big families such as mine. So anyway, when I finally made my escape, my darling brother Basil stuck around to meet my date. Awww. Sweet of him, really.
And Marco was unfazed, (which is GOOD) because when they shook hands, my brother was standing on uneven ground. (my baby brother is six foot two and was standing up the slope of the driveway)
Anyway, we went to Greenbelt. (The last time i went there I was with tetel and we watched The Passion Of The Christ. She ended up smacking me because I laughed at one point.)
We got the tickets, too (we thought we'd miss it cos we started out late). Then we went to eat. (COOKIES FOR ME NYAHAHAHAA)
Shark Tale is a pretty good piece of light humor. They did attempt to allude to gayness and family acceptance. I really felt the generation gap between me and the Lab, though, when he told his friends about Martin Scorsese in the movie and they all got excited. I couldn't even picture him in my head. Um.. Okay.
Then we had dinner at italianni's (Real food: cheese and garlic pizza) and i made his fur stand on end telling him about ghost stories. His friends called right about then and he told me it was going to be at the Mandarin Hotel Bar. I stared at the tips of my dingy, worn out sneakers in dismay, but then he said it was going to be okay. Okay. I had never been to a bar except with Marco, and he did say there was a first time for everything.
We drove over to the Paseo bar thingy. It was so pretty. And I got a freebie cd case too. Whoopee. And then the Lab said to me enthusiastically, "Maurice Arcache is at the next table!" I smiled politely. No idea. It was a pretty place with lots of lights. (See previous pictures)
So finally his friends showed up. There was Linette, the birthday girl. I thought she was around my age, 22 or younger. And her two friends (am sorry, I don't recall! Kill me now!) and then two guys, Joven or something. (Marco, am sorry. Kick me.) Then I asked her how old she was now, and she grinned and said, "35." I was dumbfounded. I wish i would look that good at 35. They were all dressed to the nines in stilettos and skirts and shades and a hat. I felt kinda funny in jeans and rubbers. But they were all sooooo nice.
Marco ordered a drink for me. I've never drunk alcohol in public before without my parents, so i figured it was about time. It was a milk chocolatey thing with vodka and stuff, but i hardly tasted the vodka. It was pretty yummy. Halfway through the glass, my ears were buzzing. And I was laughing. Okay. And my nose was warm. I specifically remember touching my nose because it felt off center.
Then we went to a club because they wanted to dance. (See raine enchanted about me and dancing.) I was amazed because it was such a fun place, Club Halo. It was my first time in a place like that. They had the smoke machine thing going and the blinky flashy light thingys. (I know, i know, I have to be more specific, but i don't know what else to call it.) They even had a couple of DJS spinning. Marco and I sat it out, and we just took pictures of the place and I even took a video, which i found out later, was not allowed. But the people dancing fascinated me. I wished i had my slr cam.
I would like to commend, especially, the people who can dance on stilettos. I cannot walk in them, much less dance. I take my hat off to you gals. You have my utmost respect.
Anyway. After a while the smoke and loud music got to me, so Marco and I went across the street to the 7-11 for a gatorade. When we came back the party was still swinging. A drunk guy was playing with his beer, splashing people with it. I wonder how the waiters keep track of who orders what and who has paid, in a place like that. They had bouncers going around and around, just tapping people on shoulders or calming down the more exuberant ones. The Lab and I just settled on the couch and people-watched. I guess there's something so peaceful about being in the middle of a crowd in a dark smoky room with loud music. Really. It's otherworldly. I never saw the appeal before, but then i had never been in a club before. But it was great. Really.
Then Marco and I left to get some food in our tummies. (Marco is soooo skinny I am jealous)
He drove by McDonalds and we ended up at a park near my cousin's condo. It was around 4:30 in the morning, and we sat at the park bench and i called a stray pussycat to play with me. Hahaha. Then the Lab brought me home.
So there it is, my first real Saturday Night out. That's about it, I guess, I really had fun.
