All Hail The Jeepney Driver

The Jeepney Driver is one of the most fascinating people you see everyday but never think about. I mean, when was the last time you sat next to or behind a jeepney driver and looked at him? Really looked at the man into whose hands you place your life every time you climb on his rusty, dilapidated vehicle?

He is a multitasking wonder. He is accountant, driver, and entertainer, and he can cause really horrible traffic jams. He mentally calculates the fare of each passenger and who paid, from where to where, and still manages to scare the living hell out of the other motorists in his path. Most people pray when they get on his jeep, and curse when stuck in traffic behind him. He also sometimes plays really loud music, or, horrors, sings! Sometimes he lectures his passengers too. And he smokes in the drivers seat, making the well-ventilated passenger area a haven for smokers.
