Mina Beltran Mallare February 11 1916- July 12 2007

It is with great sadness that I am announcing the passing of my maternal grandmother, Severina "Mina" Beltran Mallare, from a blood clot in her brain.
She is survived by her ten children and legions of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was 91, and if anyone lived life to the fullest, it was Nanay.
Up until last year, she would supervise the planting of the rice fields and harvest rice enough to sell and to feed her family. Stubbornly independent, and a loving mother and grandmother, Nanay lived through the wartime and afterwards, a remnant of a different generation. Growing up, she doted on all of us but she was STRONG.
She loved tagalog telenovelas, Loren Legarda (it boggles the mind) and KFC chicken and pan de sal from Pan de Manila.
The past year must have been hell on her, with her stroke leaving her mute and paralyzed, and a glaucoma leaving her blind.
I'm happy she's free now.
Rest in peace, Nanay. Say hi to Tatay for me.
